"CHRIST GRACE IS TRULY SUFFICIENT"

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Thu, Aug 13, 2020

2 Corinthians 12:8-9

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." There fore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NIV)

I used to disqualify myself from ministry or job opportunities because of my weaknesses that seemed too glaring, too great. Yes, I disqualified myself. Even when an opportunity came to me or I was assured of my suitability.

I'd tell myself that I wasn't (fill in the blank) enough to do a particular task, or face a particular challenge. My own perception of my weakness prevented me from doing something I might have even really wanted to do. But I eventually learned that believing in my own weakness was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Truly be the grace of God, I now know better. Christ's grace is truly sufficient. his unfathomable power is truly perfected in my weakness. As I decrease, he increases (John 3:30). Apart from Him, I can do nothing (John 15:5). In Him, I can do all things He calls me to do (Philippians 4:13). I have found there are a couple of important caveats. First, recognizing my powerlessness, and second, the task being something that Christ has called me to.

Today, when a daunting opportunity shows up I first ask Jesus if it's from Him and wait for an answer. Then I prepare appropriately, continually turning to Him for power and relaxing in the certainty of His sufficiency. - ISABELLA YOSUICO

Faith Step: Is there something you've felt called to do but hesitate because of your weakness? Consider and claim the assurance of Paul's assertion. The degree to which you are weak is the degree to which Jesus's power shows up! If God called you to it, He'll get you through it.
